  deadly lag

  hi
  running 64bit vegas9 om a mac pro 8core/bootcamp/vista64bit, 6gig ram.

  using hd clips, pegasus4 mjpeg codec.

  i find that whilst editing, there is a horrible lag on the preview. eg i have a clip which ends at time x on the timeline, but when i play it , it stays on the preview till apprx x + 2 seconds. needless to say, this makes editing impossible.

  -changing preview quality doesnt make any difference
  -there are a lot of clips (100 or so) in the project, but there are not that many layers. in fact only one is playing at that time.
  -the clip is speeded up to x3 playback. if i play it at normal speed, there is no lag when it ends.

  i just found that last key point out.
  so, it seems vegas isnt happy with speeded up clips. i have many like that, or i’d just speed it up elsewhere.

  any comments /suggestions on this?

  There has been some changes in previewing in Vegas 9
  with mixed results from some users.

  Try right clicking in the preview window and disable
  “adjust size and quality for optimal playback”
  Then now when you toggle with the various preview quality
  settings, you can assess which setting best suits you.
