Yes it is, but there are a few glitches here and there so the “9a” release will probably solve the critical ones. If you buy now you get the $50 discount and the extra product they are offering. You can keep Vegas 7 running along side 9 so no issues. If you open a veg file created in 7 just do a save as and rename it so you have two versions. That way if you have a problem you can go back to the Vegas 7 version of the veg.

Now if you are fat and happy with Vegas 7 that is fine but I am always fat and happy with every version I buy (Vegas 4 – 9).

I am biased because Vegas is the best program I have ever owned…period, done and finished.

Yes, It is worth the jump…Tons of added features.
But as Harold pointed out: there are few issues here and there
and more than likely the critical ones will be gone by the
    coming update.
But nothing wrong with still using your version 7.

    > Is Pro 9 worth the jump? Enough added features and improvements?

Download the trial and use it for 30-day and see if you don’t think the new features are indispensable. Only you can answer this question.

I can tell you that besides the obvious big new features for HDV, AVCHD, & XDCAM EX users, there are lots of little features in 8 and 9 that improve my productivity and so it’s worth it for me. (the improved preview speed, instant audio envelopes, and match generated media to event size options are just three small new features in 9 that will save me time) So it all depends on your workflow which is why I say, download the trial and see for yourself.

A few people seem confident 9a will be out and fix a lot of issues. Do you think it will be out sooner than it took from 8b to 8c? It seemed like forever for that one.

There is no way to know that. Vegas 7 had quite a few releases and they came pretty quick. Vegas 8 was 39 days between 8 and 8a but other updates were not as fast nor as many.
