    Hello,

I’m using Sony Vegas Studio and DVD Architect ver 4.5.

I’ve rendered all the files in MPEG-2 then compile the DVD in Architect. Then I made an image file (.iso) using Nero Express 7 and Sonic RecordNow ver 6.5 and use that to burn multiple copies of DVD’s.

I’m still testing but it seems that with Nero and perhaps Sonic as well I get a Chapter or two that will either not play or have corrupted video on DVD player that’s connected to TV’s, works fine on the computer as far as I can tell but the DVD is made for TV viewing.

I have four DVD players in the house and the other three all work. Just this weekend I took a DVD that played fine on all four of my DVD players to my Mother-in-Laws and she has a Sony DVD player and unbelieveably it wouldn’t play two out of 7 Chapters!

So how do I verify the DVD’s prior to mailing them to customers?
What am I doing wrong during copying, rendering or authoring?

    Thanks so much.

Basically, you are not really doing anything wrong…
Thats how it goes with varied brands of DVD Players.
Its very hard to have a DVD play smoothly on everyones
home DVD player, for lots of reason….

Just make sure you are using a reliable brand of
DVD if you are serious about your work…Taiyo Yuden
and Verbatim are the best of the lot.

There is more to all this, but im just keeping things short.

This is not unusual, but I have reduced my “won’t play” complaints significantly. Never, Ever burn at the max rate of the DVD burner. Pick something in the middle. If 2X is the only option your burner offers, then it probably doesn’t recognize the make of the blank disc (so it can’t look up the manufacturer’s burn parameters in the drive firmware). This means that you should update the DVD burner firmware.

    Great Idea.

While looking around for that option I also found these options that I’m not sure of what to select:

    It’s under Data/Advanced tab.
    Type:
    Track at Once, Open
    Track at Once, Closed
    Disk at Once, Closed

    Mode:
    Mode 1
    Mode 2XA

    File System:
    ISO+Joliet (106 character file names)
    ISO+Joliet+UDF
ISO Level 2 (212 Character file names)

It was defaulted to TAO,Open, mode 1 and ISO+Joliet.

    What should I be using?

    Thanks

Make sure your burner is relively new or not dirty. I discovered that if your burner is marginal it will burn holes but not deep enough. If the DVD player has a good strong laser beam it will read the marginal burn, but if the Player is also weak it will not read your disk.
And of course all the reasons given in the other Posts.
