I made a new web video for my client on Vegas using WMV. My client currently has an old video on his web site which he can view which is WMV. However he has Windows 2000 and can’t view mine.

Funny part, I can’t view his old one, but can view his new one. I have Vista.

Any suggestions how I should handle this? Or what the problem is?

I am not sure where to even post this.

    Thank you in advance.

The problem is probably that his computer only supports WMV6 and you rendered to WMV9 (or some combination of mismatched versions). You will have to find an old version of the Windows Media Encoder for Win2K to get it to render something in that old of a format.

It may be easier to just get your client to update their version of the Windows Media Player (if the newer versions even run on Win2K) so that they can play the newer formats.

I would also discuss with the client that if you can’t play the old video from their web site, chances are none of their customer are going to able to either. It may be time to update their technology.
