titles
Posted by Tom Martens on April 14, 2009 at 4:28 amHello anybody,
I am trying to match the font on a logo that was made with Macintosh.
Vegas does not have it. Are there places to buy more fonts and add them to Vegas’ titler?

April 14, 2009 at 5:25 amDo you know the name of the font?
TrueType fonts will show up nicely in Vegas, so it may be as simple as finding the font, installing it, and opening Vegas.Douglas Spotted Eagle

April 14, 2009 at 5:57 amInspired by this thread, in terms of “naming a font” I went and discovered this website that takes you through the process of identifying a Font from a series of dead easy questions!
Try it out. If you aren’t successful, at the very least it is really good fun!!

April 16, 2009 at 11:14 amTom, the way I do it is to go to C:WINDOWSFonts, File – Install New Font and follow the prompt.
Once that’s done, it should show up in Vegas. -

April 17, 2009 at 3:06 amThere were no prompts, it just said, ‘no fonts found’ and I couldn’t go anywhere from there. Thanks for any help…. Tom

April 17, 2009 at 9:04 amDoes the font have a .ttf extension or something different?
I find it helpful to put the font into a folder on my C drive somewhere. -

April 17, 2009 at 2:10 pmHi Mike, Thanks for taking the time with me
Here’s the whole story. I’m working for a huge Hotel chain, making a short promo for a Hotel overseas. They have a company logo and they want me to make the titles I use match the script on the logo.
Overcoming a language difference, I was able to get the name of the font. I don’t have any extension, only the name
As I said when I went to file/add font, I couldn’t find a way to get to any.
Thanks, Tom -

April 17, 2009 at 2:28 pmTom, since there was no extension, my guess is that the font came from a place that uses Macs as that platform doesn’t bother with extensions.
I’ve got a query out to a few folks to see if I can get a definitive answer for you.
In the meantime, make a copy of the font (for safety’s sake), add the .ttf extension to the copy and see if it works for you.edit: I found a free version of Bellerose on this site.
See if this is the one you need. -

April 18, 2009 at 4:57 pmTom, here’s a suggestion from another Vegas user.
If it came from a Mac, you might want to try *.otf.
Without actually changing the extension, though, try using the “Open With” option when you right click… choose the Windows Font Viewer, and see what it can tell you about the actual format of the font file.
