  • ultimateS Quad-cam plugin – why are my dissolves appearing as cuts?

    So here’s my problem.

I’m working w/ Sony Vegas 7.0 using the UltimateS plugin. The only portion of UltimateS I’ve ever used was the Quad-Cam feature, which allows you to easily create a multi-cam mix from differant video sources of the same event. In my case, 95% of what I do is concert films.

if you want to see any of my work so you know kinda what i’m talking about i have a myspace profile showcasing it
    https://www.myspace.com/digitalliveproductions

on to to problem: So, I use the ultimateS, set up my tracks, go thru the whole video selection where to dissolve to another cam and when to cut to another cam. Whenever you then go to render your master track, it should have overlaps where you select it to dissolve. Like if you selection a default .2 second dissolve, it’ll have .1 overlapping on each side, and you can stretch the dissolve out so it overlays the picture longer as such.

for some reason, now whenever I render my master track, it only gives me straight cuts, no dissolves, and I went to check the marker to make sure they were all right, like “Camera 2d” (camera 2 dissolve), and they were. Wherever it has the cuts where they should be dissolves, the cut actually occurs where the dissolve should. That is, instead of cutting right where the dissolve marker is, it cuts .2 seconds before, where it should start dissolving.

any ideas? i’m completely lost as to what could be causing this. i tried re-opening an older project I had completely successfully, deleting the master video track created by UltimateS, then re-creating it, and again I get just cuts and no dissolves.

    Hi Alex,

If you send an email to ultimatesupport at the VASST web site (vasst.com) we will have someone work personally with you on this. We will ask you to send your .veg file with no media (we have media here we can substitute) so you might want to include that in your original email. We have seen this before and it’s usually a setting in the project that causes it. We can then update this post with the solution so others who may run into this will know what to look for (it’s just easier to debug via email). Thanks,

    ~jr
