Jumpy Preview When Editing
Hello!
I know this problem has probably been brought up a lot, but I also know that computers can also be quite different, so I wanted to post my own specific to my computer. Also, I’d just like to say I’m computer jargon is not really my strong suit, so please keep in my I’m a beginner. I’m editing with Sony Vegas 7.0 and as my subject states, the video preview has been quite jumpy so much that I’m not able to edit. It only happens with certain videos leading me to believe that it is the video type and not my computer. They’re Xvid files which I’ve heard present a problem when editing on certain programs, but even when I converted a few to .wmv through Windows Movie Maker, they still jumped just as much.
I have a Satellite L305D with a AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70 2.00 GHz Processor. And my RAM is 3.00 GB. And I have a 32-bit operating system. Not sure how much of that is useful, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to put it on.
I would love a solution to this problem since I’m desperate to use this system instead of something else, so if you could help I’d be extremely grateful.

The DivX problem is because Vegas doesn’t support DivX. The WMV problem is because WMV is a highly compressed delivery format and is not good for editing. Render your DivX files to DV AVI and you should have no problems previewing them.
