How do you assign top menu in dvd architect?
Hi there,
Does anyone know how to assign the ‘top’ menu in DVD architect? When pushing the menu button it goes the last menu. In ‘remote buttons’ properties I have turned top menu on, but when pushing top (title) menu on my dvd player it goes to the dvd scene selection menu instead. I haven’t found where you can set which menu is the top menu.

Above the tree window thers’s a “set disc start” icon.(small white star in purple box) Select which menu you want to start with then click on that icon – set disc start.

This issue has come up before and the response is “don’t worry about it”.
DVD Architect has a long history of not being the best “preview” device 🙁
Once you get things set the way you want, burn the disc and try it in your DVD player.
Odds are that it’ll work just fine.
Just to add to the confusion, not all DVD player remotes work properly either, especially when it comes to things like a “top menu”. -

Well, I did try a burn as that’s what i thought, but unfortunately when you push the button on the remote for ‘title menu’ it still goes to screen selection and not to the ‘top menu’
I do have the start DVD selected on some intro media.
Just trying to find out if there is a way that I can select the destination when a user on a dvd player pushing the title menu/top menu button.

Did you mean to say “top menu” as “title menu” probably means something different?
Regardless, I don’t know what to suggest as I’ve done a lot of DVDs over the years that have extensive menus and, with all the different players I’ve tried, not one has ever failed to go to the “top menu” when that particular remote button was pressed.
And no, I didn’t do anything special in DVDa to have it do this. -
Actually, this is exactly the behavior that I’m seeing on several DVD players after rendering from DVD Architect 5. I have Top Menu turned on, and I have a DVD with 3 menus. The expected behavior is that when I click Top Menu while playing the DVD it should go to Menu 1. I have everything set properly such as making Menu 1 the default Disk Start menu, and I’ve got the Menu settings pointing at Menu 1 as well, but no matter what I do or how many times I render it, when I play it on the DVD player, the Top Menu button always takes me to the last menu in the tree (Menu 3).
I tried playing it on a different DVD player with similar results.
I suppose I could just disable the Top Menu button during video play, forcing use of the Menu button, but that seems like a hack to avoid a bug. Is there any magic behind this that I’m missing?
I checked on a few other forums, and there seems to be several people noticing the same issue without any answers as to how to fix it.

I’ve just found this thread because I am having the same problem with DVD Architect Pro 5.2.
It’s surprising because everything else with DVD Architect is better by far than anything other dvd creation sosfter I’ve tried before.
Admittedly the behaviour of “Top Menu” and “Main Menu” buttons on commercial DVDs is erratic, but they must be under control of some command available to the player because they do work well sometimes.
It would be good if Sony could plug this gap. I don’t like creating dvds which don’t take users back to the top menu when they click that button in the player.
