Problems with masking: Sony Vegas Pro 8
I’ve been looking at several different youtube ‘how to mask’ videos and I’ve discovered one big problem. I’m following the instructions perfectly. I mark the masking button, highlight it and begin snapping,but for some reason my mask doesn’t appear on the screen.
For example, I’m trying to mask a beating heart gif over a clip from a movie. The gif has black square edges that I want to cut out so that only the beating heart can be soon. I outline the heart. No matter how many different things I try, I can’t get the mask to work. It won’t follow what I’m anchoring on the screen at all. It just shows the gif in it’s original form. Please help. I’ve tried just about everything.

I can’t imagine why this wouldn’t work. Make sure the Mask track is checked (but simply using the tool enables it). Perhaps you could post a screen shot of your display so we can see what’s going on. Maybe someone could spot something that isn’t right.
You could even show us what’s happening by using Jing. 😉
