okay, so ive been working on this video. and i dont know where my preview screen went. and before it disappeared, the screen was just black when i played my video. it was working just perfectly before. i think it has to do with the darkened timeline. ill provide a screen cap so you know whati m talking about.

Your track is muted. Click the icon that looks like a circle with a line through it.

How do I get my preview screen back?

I just told you how: “Click the icon that looks like a circle with a line through it.”

On your video track — the one that is “darkened” — there is a track “header” to the left. It’s the area with all the buttons, a slider, and a large square with “1.” on it.

One of those buttons (the only one that you currently have pressed) has a circle with a line through it. This is the Mute button for that track. It turns that track on and off.

Click that button to UN-mute the track.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words:

Actually John, maybe it is more than just that:

” . . . i dont know where my preview screen went. and before it disappeared, the screen was just black when i played my video. ”

This could also indicate that he has removed the Preview Screen – itself? – Yeah?

And again . . “How do I get my preview screen back?

So maybe it is also the replacing the Preview Screen:

1] View > Preview Screen CHECK

    OR even

    2] Keystroke: Alt+4

It could be 2 things happening, Mute AND an errant Preview Screen.

But I could very well be wrong?

I understood the fact that I needed to unmute the track as soon as Rob told me. That was very helpful. However, I had a question about getting my preview screen back, which Graham also helped with. So thank you.
