    Hi Folks,

I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 8 for the first time on a project (I’m back in the biz after the linear/U-matic days). I’m shooting with a JVC in 24p on mini DVs and capturing footage into pro 8.

Here are the few problems I would be grateful for any help with:

    (1) I notice some blur on movement (hands move, etc.; especially faster moves like fast walk) on footage captured. Anything I can do to reduce this?

    (2) The quality of the footage generally looks great in preview after edits, but when I render using pro 8 and then burn a DVD, there is a very noticible reduction in the quality; almost like going down a few generations in the “old school” stuff. Any help?

    (3) I notice there is some jumpiness on pans. Is this a problem with compression and how can I work with it?

I’m using a four-quad computer with Vista and plenty of memory and speed.

I sincerely appreciate any help or recommendations on where to turn for help.

    Thanks and best to you,
    Mark

The blur you’re describing is classic 24p blur. Have you shot much with 24p?

Thank your for responding. I’ve been out of town and unable to see my e-mail.

I shot a lot of film and video in the past, but I’m brand new at 24p work.
