  • Making a Web Banner with Vegas: Help!

I’m trying to make a web banner, which will ultimately be converted to Flash for placement on my website. I am using Vegas 6. The banner template looks like a film stip, but with the frames aligned on their sides. I have put in 30 second clips from docs and commercials I have made, and resized them and placed them within the frames on the banner. My problem is this: the dimensions of the banner itself is 956 pixels wide and 200 pixels high. My project settings are 720×480. How do I render this project so that the banner retains its original dimensions?

How did you make a 956×200 banner in a 720×480 project? The first thing I would do is change the project dimensions to 956×200 so you can actually see what your output is going to look like. Then just create a customer rendering template using the same dimensions. You will have to use a codec that supports those dimension as well like MP4, Quicktime Animation, etc.

I imported the 956×200 banner as A JPEG into Vegas, but on my external monitor, Vegas puts the banner into a 720×480 box with black all around the banner. I will try to adjust my project settings to 956×200 and report back. Thanks.

Thanks for your help, John! It works great! I have to tweak the size of the banner some more, but you can see what it looks like by going here:

    Hey it looks great!

As a general “rule”, always remember to work in the same resolution as your output and there should be no surprises when you render.

    Hey Rick,

Nice web site. I love your video on how to make pizza. Being Italian myself and viewing your video, you made me hungry for a pizza.
    Ciao!
