Hi, I’m pretty new to Sony Vegas Pro but starting to get the hang of it. I’m starting a project by converting dvd files to .avi with AoA DVD Ripper, and the quality is quite good, but when I import it into Vegas Pro the quality is worse. Any ideas? I did set the preview to ‘Best’.

Also when rendering a file it ends up being HUGE. Its like a 20 sec video and its almost 50mb. Is it supposed to be like this?

    Thanks in advance.

Instead of using AoA DVD Ripper to rip your DVD, You
only need to insert the DVD and right there in vegas
you go to Import – DVD Camcorder disc…..and vegas will
do the (ripping) for you and conveniently place it on the
timeline in its correct order in great quality and in the
    easily editable format of mpeg2….done

Thanks for the reply, I did try that, but nothing happens. Its a dvd I bought, so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I chose import>DVD camcorder disc, select the disc and then nothing happens.

The procedure Steve mentioned only works with non-copyrighted discs.
Since yours was store-bought, it’s obviously a copyright protected disc.

It has everything to do with it. It is illegal to import copy protected DVD so Vegas will never support this. You will always need to use an illegal ripper to do this.

Ah, ok thanks. I get why they do that. Even though I don’t have any ‘illegal’ intentions, I get it. Guess I have to resort to a illegal ripper then. Thanks anyway guys.

As long as your intentions are not to do anything illegal then the DVD ripper program itself is not illegal. I am new to this forum and I’m not sure about the rules. there is a program that I use to make copies of DVDs that I have purchased that works quite well. If you are interested I can give you the name but I want to make sure it is within the rules of this forum before I do so. Can a moderator let me know if it OK or how can a member of the forum send another member a private message
