    Hi everyone,

We’re starting a documentary that will be shot during 3 years… Besides of the documentary we also have to make stock footage of the project.

We’re shooting with a EX1 and editing with Sony Vegas. For that we have to convert files to mxf on the HDD.

Now we’re looking for the best way to manage all these footages. For the moment Vegas Media Manager seems to be the only way to playback mxf files (to be honest it doesn’t seem to be the easiest way!). We wanted to use Bridge, but it doesn’t play mxf…

Does anyone have a better idea?

Sort of a late reply, but I figured I’d chime in. If you’ve already exported your EX-1 footage through ClipBrowser and are just keeping and backing up mxf files, I assume what you want is the ability to simply double-click on them and play the video for reference? My favorite application for this is MPlayer which is a free media player and you can grab it off their website at https://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

It’s quick and useful but if you’re shooting 1080i it doesn’t de-interlace on the fly so you might notice the even and odd fields when there’s motion going on. It’s fast and doesn’t use a lot of system resources, give it a whirl and let me know if you find anything better.
