Sony Vegas Pro 8 problem
I have no problem with the program recognizing and capturing HDV from my Canon HV20, but the clips are unusable. If I try to use them I get a message that says:
“The format of the media file conflicts with the way it was used in the current project. This could be due to the number and type of streams changing”
Then it asks if I want to replace the file or ignore the errors, etc.The clips are m2t files but are completely unusable.
I’ve tried all kinds of different settings in the properties, but nothing works.
What am I doing wrong?

I use an HV20 with V8. I would play back the video in the camera to make sure the tape is not defective or recorded distorted video. If, OK then may try to play back the HDV tape with the DV conversion on in the HV20. This may give you some information.

Everything’s good on the camera end, beautiful footage in fact.
I did more trials and shot some straight dv.
Now the program will not detect the camera if it’s HD footage.
I did make sure I was using the internal capture for hd and the sony 6 external capture for dv. DV captures and renders just fine, the problem is only w/ HD.
At least before, it would capture, but no preview and the files were unusable. Now it won’t even see the camera. Maybe I set something wrong on the camera -
Correction, it is detecting the camera again. Must not have had the firewire plugged in securely or something. Still not gettting useable clips except in DV
HDVsplit captures ok, but they’re not useable in V8.
I’m at a real loss as to what’s wrong.
