I downloaded Vegas Platinum 9.0b last night, after the installation of .NET Framework 1.1 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable it ran fine and i made and encoded a video. However the video wasnt in the format i required so i needed to re-encode it, the program i used to do so required .NET 3.5, so i just decided to install most versions of the .NET relase, which includes.

    2.0 sp2
    2.0 sp2
    3.5 sp1

now when running Vegas i get the following message when it starts.

    Error 0x80131902 (message missing)

    Failed to initialize script host.

i have tried reinstalling the application and their are also a couple of logs in Event manager that might be of help

however i have been able to successfully install all version, so im not really 100% sure if this still applies, version 3.5 failed to install intitially but was successfull installed second time round.

    any help is appreciated, thanks.

It looks like Movie Studio requires .Net 1.1 and the program you used requires 3.5 but the failing component is .Net 2.0. I would uninstall .Net 2.0 since nothing requires it and see if that fixes things. You may have to reinstall .Net 1.1 after that. Good Luck.

I’ve been having similar problem.. I installed the latest version of Sony Vegas pro 11 64bit v511. I have the latest updated .net 4 framework but whenever i try to run Vegas everything loads in the splash screen but when it comes to the scripting part it returns an error that says “Failed to Initialize script host” the argument is out of its legal range”

Please help!, I tried reinstalling framework and vegas both, but nothing seems to work !! I desperately need Vegas to work, I have submissions soon!!!
