Im shooting 1080 at 30p and I want to render to the best quality possible for playback on a laptop for presentation purposes.

Since I am shooting 30p I want to render progressive to avoid interlace artifacts.
My current render setting are WMV at 1080 30p – 8000kbps.

    Is this a good choice?

    – Thanks

For some reason, none of the real experts seem to want to answer any questions about 30P renders. My post a short while back lies unanswered. By considerable trial and error, I have done the following with 30p HD footage (shot on the EX1):

    –render to AVI
–template: HD 1080 60i YUV (there is no 30p template for AVI)
–custom/video: set Field order to none (giving you 30p again)

I suspect there’s a better way, but don’t know what it is.

I render HDV to the same WMV preset you used, The one at the bottom of the WMV dropdown list. 1440 1080 8 mbps and they look great. It takes a fast computer to playback these videos though. 2.8 duo core is what Microsoft claims. I don’t see any interlacing on my videos rendered to this format. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I agree it looks great, but do you also encounter very long render times?
