  Vegas CPU issue

  Hi, I posted a while back about this, but I didn’t get a solution.
  The problem is, running Sony programs (Vegas 6.0 and Acid 5.0), the program uses 100% of the CPU. It doesn’t run slowly; I can use all the features, and it doesn’t affect other programs, it seems like it is just using up available CPU for no apparent reason. The only problem is, while running at full CPU it causes the laptop to overheat.
  I have used Vegas on computers that are much less powerful than mine and it usually takes up only 5-10% of the CPU. Does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem?
  I am running it on a Toshiba Tecra M4 with a 2.6 GHz Centrino, 1 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA graphics card.

  It’s time for an upgrade, you’re running at the minimums. That being said are you running any background programs? Is there a virus or spyware on your system? Open your task manager and see what applications are using so much resources. Just with Vegas open you should not be using CPU power unless you are previewing or rendering. Overheating your laptop will destroy the CPU in short order. So check the basics first.
