Overlap series of still photos
Hi again,
Friends have given me a job: Three sets of still photos, to make DVDs out of them. Two sets have 630 photos each!
I set up Vegas Preferences to 7 seconds for each still picture, and 2.5 seconds overlap on each. This will give me a 4.5 second clear view of each photo.
I then moved the photos all together into the Media, and then dragged them as a group onto the timeline.
But each photo simply abutted against the next. No overlap! Obviously I would rather not go through 600+ pics and overlap each with the other, so there must be an easy way to do this “batch style.”
Can someone please advise how to do this?

Make sure “Automatically overlap multiple…” is selected in the Preferences under the Editing tab.

Now the next question (or should I re-post the question because it is different?)
Anyway, here it goes:
My friends who sent me the .jpg photos used PICASA, and created individual titles (descriptions) for many of their photos, which when played as a PICASA slide show, appear below each photo.
Is there some magic by which these “titles” can be made to appear, using Vegas?

Hi John,
I don’t know of anyway to feed the data from PICASA into Vegas directly, but you can use Vegas to add text to video.
Create a video track on top of the video track(or slideshow) you have with your JPGs. Then in that new video track, use the menu Insert, Text Media, from there you can enter whatever you want as text, colours fonts size… Leave the background the default black colour, that way the background will be transparent and not cover your JPGs. After you can always use the new feature you just learned, “Track Motion” to position EXACTLY where you want the text and the size, you could even have animate it, come in and/or leave the screen.
