  • Vegas hates AE files?

OK, 6 hours ago I posted this in the AE forum but it looks that this is more of a Sony Vegas issue.
    So, here we go.

I am trying to render a scene in AE in which I cut out the main character from the background.
So I have this transparent background now.

Problem is that when I render the footage, the rendered file does not keep the transparency info in Sony Vegas.

Adobe After Effects recognizes the background of the rendered video as transparent, but Sony Vegas does not.

I tried all kinds of output formats – mov, wmv, avi, etc.
Used RGB+Alfa in the settings and Milions of Colors +.
No results – Vegas would not read the background as transparent.

    What is wrong?

Drop your (preferably uncompressed) AVI on the timeline, right-click it, select Properties and then the Media tab.
In the Alpha channel dropdown box are a number of different choices you can try to see which one works best for you.

Exactly as mike says…you need to manually make the selection to fit your output.
And if you are still having issues, you can render your alpha
channel file from after effects to use in vegas as a
targa (image sequence) file and follow the same procedure when
    importing it in vegas.
I really love using this format (targa image sequence)
it solves numerous issues that shows up when you render in other
    intermediate formats.
