    I saw the answer to this somewhere in the past, but can’t find it now.

    A HDV 1440×1080 NTSC project with a white generated media as a background on a lower track, and a 1440x1080i stock video above it.
    When rendered, the generated media is slightly bigger and sticks out on the left and right sides just a sliver. This is not a problem if viewed on a TV due to the TV overscan, but it is noticable in web video.

    More than likely it is not the generated media that is too big but rather the stock video is too small. What format are you using to render? DV Widescreen and HD Widescreen do not match and so they can’t be mixed without cropping. Make sure you are rendering at the correct aspect.
