I often apply FXs to groups of clips by highlighting the group, then pulling down the FX from the FX menu.

But, is there a way to do the opposite—remove a group of the same FXs from multiple clips?

Let me ask it another way.

If you have the same FX applied to 100 clips, is there a way to remove this FX from all of them, in one step? As opposed to removing the FX from each clip, one at a time.

It seems that there must be a way to reverse the process of adding an FX to a group of clips.

OK, I found the answer, in case this applies to the work of anyone else.

My add on, Excalibur, has the script to “Remove All Effects”. So, by highlighting all of the clips with the unwanted FXs, I simply hit the Excalibur “Remove All Effects” choice.

I am still uncertain whether or not this same thing could have been done with my stock Vegas8.

Via script is the way to do it. While the “Remove all scripts” will do it, it’s also possible to selectively remove effects via a script. It can only go be effect names and not preset names for selective deleting, though.
