I just authored two Blu-ray discs in DVDA5 with chapter markers and scene selection menus. When I play either disc in my Panasonic DMP-BD30 player, the scene selection buttons are recognized on both discs and go to the proper chapters. But for one of the discs, when I start the video and press the Next button on my remote, it does not advance to any subsequent chapter markers. I have to go back to the scene selection menu to get to subsequent chapters. Both discs were authored the exact same way. The markers are there in the full media clip (obviously, or else I couldn’t have made working scene selection menus). I’ve gone through the DVDA5 projects carefully and can’t find any difference in them. The markers are recognized when I preview the projects. I wouldn’t even know how to disable the chapter markers if I tried. The only thing I could find to potentially affect them is the “Remote Buttons” tab, but everything is already set to “On.” So how is this problem even possible?

That does sound strange since you have two discs made the same way that act different. I would make sure that your Blu-ray player has the latest firmware. I had a problem where a disc I made didn’t recognise chapter markers and an upgrade of the Blu-ray player firmware fixed it. I realize that this doesn’t make sense because the other disc plays but at least it’s something to look for since it really defies logic.

Good call – the firmware update fixed it! That’s normally the first thing I check, not sure why it didn’t cross my mind this time. Good to know it wasn’t a software issue. Thanks!

Yea, it’s still strange the one disc worked and the other didn’t. Glad it worked.
