Yea, I met Les at NAB 2008 this year at the Sony booth and he said they were just getting into Vegas. He no longer edits all of his own footage like he did in the beginning but he said his editors were very happy with using Vegas Pro.

Yea, I just read the article in my issue. “Backwoods Warrior” Quite interesting!
I’m having a chance to compare FCE with Vegas because the project I’m working on now I got to collaborate with a fellow using FCP. I got FCE when I bought my MacBook Pro. Sort of reverse! But it’s wild comparing 1 to another. Vegas still stands out as #1 in my book!
Too bad I can’t export my Vegas VEG file to something FCP can open! but FCE and FCP use the same file extension. So I’m stuck AFAIK.

studios and film makers describing their workflow in using
vegas to edit their big blockbuster films..Oh yes Vegas can.Still, Offline editing is what Avid and Final Cut has over Vegas.

Hi there,
One thing I can add, is to compare Edius 5 to Vegas.
Not now, but few weeks later. Our guitar lessons has to be done in Edius, my partner needs it so (he is the boss in some meaning ;)).
And I have to learn it at least to be able to do keyframed croppings, along with some multitrack.And a question:
What is “offline editing”?Regards

Offline editing is the process of working with video or film that is not the original. Usually it is a proxy that is easier to edit and after your edits are complete there is a “conform” stage where the edits are applied back to the original footage before making the final print. This is done all the time to edit film.

I often see ads for offsite editors, and the requirements almost universally say “FCP or AVID required”. I frequently reply with a simple question: “Why FCP/Avid? Do you ask the carpenter what brand of hammer he uses to build a house?”
I never do get a response…..

Most are caught up in the mind set that Avid and FCP are
the utmost tools, and anything else is inferior and weak.An illusion is also out there that anything created
using these tools are great and superior…LOL..and all create
