    Ummm, hi.

    I’ve got Vegas 9 … and I was watching this one video on how to do masking. I followed everything it showed me, but when I went to right click on the thing below “Select events to end” there was nothing there to do anything with “velocity”…I don’t even know what velocity is! XD

    I’ve run some trials of a few of the other versions…is velocity just not available for vegas 9, or is there something I’m supposed to turn on for it to show up?

    There is no “Vegas 9”. There is Vegas Pro 8.0 and Vegas Movie Studio 9. I’ll assume that you have Vegas Movie Studio which doesn’t support Velocity Envelopes. You need the Vegas Pro version for that.

    It is very confusing that Sony chose to have one help file for both versions of Vegas. You need to watch the icons in the help file to see which features are applicable to your version (common mistake).

    Sorry Heather,
    Velocity envelope feature is not available in the movie studio
    versions. To have a go of this feature you would need to upgrade
    to the professional version.

    Velocity = speed.
    Vegas Pro has the ability to speed up or slow down an event (what Vegas calls a clip).

    Not nearly as confusing as before they added the “Pro”. Then it was even more confusing trying to explain that the don’t have “Vegas” then have “Vegas Movie Studio”. At least now you can say, the “Pro” version and have some differentiation.

    If you look at the box you can hardly see the word “vegas” but MOVIE STUDIO is the largest thing on box… yet for some reason, those who buy it are reluctant to say, “I’m using Movie Studio”.

    But we have the same problem on the ACID forum. People will ask how to monitor their recording and we’ll explain how to arm the track and change the input monitor and they’ll get confused and then finally it will come out that they are using “acid” MUSIC STUDIO. Then the light bulb goes on. Music Studio doesn’t support input monitoring.

    I understand Sony wanting to show that it’s a “family” of products but it’s very confusing to most. Especially, as I mentioned, that there is one help file for both versions. You can read an entire chapter before realizing that your version can’t do this. 🙁
