    Hi

I just moved my vegas 8.0c from my old laptop to a new one with a full hd screen (acer 8930G) and now i don’t have any preview anymore (stays black , only the sound), but i can see the video in the timeline.

I don’t think I have a codec issue since i can watch the footage with any other software …

    Any idea ?

Have you made sure already that the video tracks are not

I just have found .. it’s because of the trimer ! There is an option to activate the monitor in the trimer and then no preview in the main windws

    Thanks

I am going to keep searching the threads here – but I seem to have a problem understanding this one – I had an empty (blank) timeline, dragged an event to it – it created a video + audio track, and my preview is black. Sent clip to trimmer – shows up there. Right click in trimmer and I can check “show video in preview window”, and it works. Turn it off, preview goes back to black.

I have 100% opacity on the track, track is not muted.

I looked through the timeline preferences and didn’t see one on displaying trimmer in preview window, so I assumed you are talking baout the option in the trimmer window for showing the video in preview monitor.

I know it has to be something simple I am missing here – but I have seen the same results (black preview monitor) when clips are on certain tracks, and when I move the events to a different track, they show up in the preview monitor – so I know it has to be some property I am not up to snuff with – just can’t seem to find it.

the compositing mode for the track was set to “cut”. Is there a default ? I was reading through the online help and maybe it’s just me, but I sure couldn’t find a default choice.

Hello Dave, i have the same prob as you have and i searched the whole net to get an answer, but nothing.

So i burst my brain for it and i think i get a solution.
The problem i think is the vegas “veg” file. probably not for everyone but for my scenario.
The veg file must have a michmatch information content in it selfs, i think.
For my new projekt i opened an old other project because some things i can use for my new project. So i fill all in work in the old project, modivied it and safed it as a new project. And this must be the problem. Too much information of unused tracks and offlined files in this project, while all is stocked in this new file what orig was an old file. So i searched for a way to edit the veg file in a text editor for deleting some old information. But that doesn´t work and the file is corrupeted after that.
A chance is to open a new project in another opened Vegas window (important).
    So follow my steps.

    1. open Vegas with the (bad) project.
    2. open another vegas with a new project and the propperties you must have to.
    3. create the same sume of tracks in the new project of the second opened vegas.
    4. marker all sequences of one track. than copy that mareked track and drag it into one of the new track of the second vegas.
    5. make this with every track until all is the same asin the old project.
    6. safe this new project in the second vegas with a new name and for safeness on a other location on your hdd (create a new folder, that must suffices).
    7. Close all vegas and start vegas with the new project.
    8. All must work.

Why? you edit the veg file by this workflow. yet you have only the new informations stored in the veg file, no more old michmatch information.

Try it, for me it works well.

    regards
    Guido
