I’ve never noticed this with an update before, but I opened a complicated project after upgrading from 8.0b to 8.0c and it’s taking 10 minutes to rebuild all the audio peaks in the project. Anyone know why it has to do that?

I am also hoping that 8.0c hangs less than b. I noticed this especially when I had two or more instances of Vegas open at the same time.

    thanks,
    Mary

Did you ever find a solution to the “rebuilding Peaks” problem with 8c?

I have installed 8.1, 64 bit, and have the same problem.. Never noticed it before in 8.0b.

    Thanks

Mary & Larry, this topic has come up on other Vegas forums and the answer seems to be that, for whatever reason (new code??) each new version has to rebuild the peaks.
After it does this the first time, it shouldn’t happen anymore.

thanks, but I’m not sure that it isn’t rebuilding everytime I open the project. However most of the time I am reopening the project after a crash. Overall 8.1 has not been a good experience. The extra RAM (8gig) is very important and is helpful but the software has been pretty shakey overall, peak rebuilding aside. I haven’t given up and maybe there are answers to some of my problems. I elaborate in future posts.

    Thanks again for your help.
