High End Post w/Sony Vegas
Vegasers,
A short film competition with a twist. It’s almost impossible for family, friends and hanger’s on to overly influence the internet voting, because anyone wishing to vote for one film must first register and watch all 15, 15-20 minute films before voting. I’ve watched 4 and so far not a stinker in the bunch and several that are exceptional. Registration is straight forward and simple and it might be worth anyone’s while to be on their mailing list, because this will continue into the future.
The reason I bring this up here is because of the above and because I know for a fact that one of the entrants was shot on Red, and posted, off-line and on-line with Vegas. This would be the entrant entitled “Alius Primoris.”
This is an on-going thing that is much too late to enter this year but is resulting in excellent work, so look to next year. This is a contest not based on viral marketing of a product, but on addressing humanitarian themes and concepts. THANK HEAVENS! As I understand it (which may not be very accurate as I haven’t had time to do the research) the process involves submitting 5 minute samples built around a number of contest themes. The top 15 folk are then given $10,000 each to create a narrative work based on one of these theme (this year’s theme was “Hope.”), and from the 15 creations 3 are chosen as prize winners with the top prize being $100,000. The choosing is based on some sort of percentage of internet voting and contest panalists.
