Audio/Video sync
I’m capturing at 640×480 @ 30 fps using a Sony HandyCam DCR-HC65. Older cam, I know. USB 2.0. Five minutes of video is about 8 GB, and I don’t care too much about file size, have plenty of drive space, I just want the highest quality at the highest resolution I can get. The problem I get is the the video gets out of sync with the audio. I’ve ungrouped audio from video and adjusted in one section of our live performance, and I can get it synced, cool. But then later in the video, it gets out of sync again! ARRRG! Any ideas?

You can slow down or spead up the video to match the audio if it’s out by a small amount. Hold control and drag the edge of the video to match the audio. If an edit has resulted in the sync problem, You can split the video event, and sync each part seperatly. Hope this helps. Danny Hays

Thanks a LOT! Still a newb at Vegas, but I definitely love the power and capabilities. That did a great job, but still got out of sync by milliseconds toward the end. May have to try splitting it as you recommended. I captured in five minute increments because I was noticing this, so it should make it easier than trying to sync the entire 40 minute show.

So a quick question, if I split the video, do I split it, then stretch both sides toward the middle?

Stretch or shrink to get each part in sync. If it leaves holes in the video track, you can split small pieces at the edges and stretch those to fill. Danny Hays
