Activity Forums VEGAS Pro 4:3 aspect HD?

I’m guessing that I can’t use 1440×1080 set in properties if I want to produce a high definition video in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

If the HD project is in 4:3, what are the correct property AND render settings for uncompressed AVI? And, will I be able to change these properties if and when the client wants it in 16:9?

    Thanks.

    Project set to 720 x 480 DV
Pan/Crop all files to match aspect ratio.
    That’s about it.
You HAVE to crop, because if you squeeze, you’ll make fat people normal, and normal people very thin, and everything looks weird. Stretching pixels by a few values is usually indetectable, depending on the shot, but squeezing by this much…you won’t get away with it.
Hence the phrase “shoot for film but frame for television.”
That said, you can always take a project back to wide once you’ve cropped it to 4:3.
    You can’t letterbox, huh?
