I can’t seem to put text over a video without it putting up a background colour blocking my video. I’ve tryed to find how to fix it so I can just have the words on the video but I can’t seem to do it, I know it can be done because I did it the other day, for some reason I can’t do it now.

The default Text Generator has a transparent background. You’d have to be doing something special to get it not to be transparent. Anyway, go to the Properties tab on the Generated Text and pull the alpha slider all the way down on the Background color or just set the Alpha (A) to zero in the data entry fields.

Simple….Just drag the “default text” preset from the ‘media generator’text filter to an empty timeline above the video.

Yeh not having an empty video track was my problem I figured it out not long after I posted this. I was trying to put the title screen over the same video track.
