  • Cataloging video clips? Advice please.

So, as I am getting more and more into editing I find myself collecting LOTS of clips with varied subjects in them.

I am editing AVCHD video should it make a difference, but I am trying to find a good way to categorize/tag, comment inside the timeline of the video, and search it all. (Inside the program, preferably, but I will gladly listen to whatever you feel is the best solution.)

    ie:
    0:30 – Silver lining, clouds
1:43 – Landing strip, Ecuador, jungle
    7:43 – Takeoff, Ecuador, jungle

Even better would be to have a little thumb nail of the scene along with the note.

    I haven’t found it in MS8.

Is that a feature of the full version only?

Been considering gettin IT rather than the MS version.

Also are there any comprehensive (free) video tutorials on how to use Vegas to its full potential? I’m a visual leaner so something like that would be helpful.

Have you tried using the media manager in Vegas if it fits your
    cataloging needs?.

I don’t have Vegas Pro, but rather MS9 Plat Pro + pack, I haven’t seen media manager in it.

You can download the optional download from here:
https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates/vegaspro ….(not sure how compatible it is with MS9),
But you can install, run and see if it works and suites your needs.

I downloaded and installed it but MS9 doesn’t seem to see it as a plugin (or I’m looking at the wrong place).

How would I actually access the manager after its installed (assuming it is working)

You could go in “preferences” and select enable ‘media manager’
Then restart vegas…it would be then visible with the rest of
    the tabs menu.
