I would contact Sony Support. Within 30-days they should make good and give you a better deal. I don’t know if they will… but it can’t hurt to ask.

You mean 64-bit Vegas Pro 8.0, not 9. Sony said they would release a 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 8 this year and that hasn’t happened yet. I can’t imagine version 9 is anywhere in sight.

Actually, no, I think they will make the 64 bit version more than a point upgrade. That way they can charge for it. I hope you are right, but we’ll see what really happens.

I was at NAB 2008 when Sony announced that the 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 8.0 will be FREE to all existing 8.0 customers later this year. Just like DVD Architect 5.0 with Blu-ray support was FREE for all existing DVD Architect 4.5 customers.

As I said, I hope you are right John. I was at NAB too.
We’ll just have to wait and see what REALLY happens, and more importantly, WHEN….

I wrote a fairly curt email to sony support and received a reply with my new serial number! So it looks like I purchased Vegas 8 at just the right time. “Sony Creative Software will honor a free upgrade to the next available pro product if your purchase of the previous product occurred within 30 days of the current product’s release date.”
