  Deinterlace or Not?

  Hi folks,

  I film using a Sony Z1 and produce both widescreen DVDs and Blu-rays.

  I have noticed that some dvds show jaggies.

  Within Vegas 8 project properties there is the option to Blend Fields or Interpolate or None.

  Is there a prefered way to do this. I am pretty sure that the first view dvds that I did I had the setting at None???

  Hi Steve,

  Thanks that post was useful. However, it does not say whether Blend fields or Interpol is the better option when producing a dvd from hdv footage.

  If i leave it set as None, as i do for producing Blu-rays, the footage is totally unstable with all vertical lines as jaggies.

  Having played about with all 3 options I think Blend fields is the best. Although, all feedback appreciated.

  Yes,
  Use “Blend Fields” as the deinterlacing method.
  Leave it at that default setting.
  If you want you can take a look at a handy little deinterlacing
  plugin/filter called “smart De-interlace” over at
