Pal footage
A friend of mine came back from vacation in South Africa and he video taped the whole trip and he wants me to put it on dvd, but there is a problem its Pal. And we are NTSC, he does not have the camera and when i put it in my sony FX1 the tape plays fine saying pal in view finder.I have it connected by firewire to vegas nothing happening. How can i load this footage into Vegas 7?Thanks in advance

I believe you need a PAL FX1 or any Z1. The Z1 is both NTSC and PAL switchable. That is one of the distinctions between the Z1 and FX1. Perhaps you can rent the proper camera for a day?

John, So there is no way for me to load this tape from my sony fx1 or vx2100 in to vegas. Thanks for your help

I could be wrong and for your sake I hope I am… but I don’t think you can capture PAL footage with an NTSC camera. It sounds like you have already tried and it failed? What happened? I assume Vegas saw the camera. If not, are you sure you had the FX1 set to DV output and not HDV for capture?

John, I just don’t understaand. I can see the video playing fine in my viewfinder on my FX1 and Vx2100, but no i can’t get it to Vegas by firewire. I know the old days with pal vhs was different where you can not watch a pal vhs in a ntsc video player. I quest i have to hunt down someone with a pal camera. Thanks for all your help
