  • Getting Error Message when rendering multi track audio as WAV file with IMA ADPCM format.

One of our clients needs some audio in a specific format in order to load it onto their phone system. We are rendering a multi track audio file as WAV file, with IMA ADPCM format selected in Custom. Attributes are 8K, 4 bit mono, but it still came up with the error changing it to stereo.

This is the error message we are receiving.

“An Error Occurred while creating the media file blablabla.wav.

A necessary function has not been implemented”.

What could this ‘necessary function‘ be? We have just upgraded to Vegas version 8 from version 6, and it was never a problem doing the exact same task in version 6.

In the Render As window, Render Loop Region Only is selected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just tried creating a WAV file using that template and at first I did not get an error message but it definitely ignored the template and created a 16-bit stereo file. I even opened it in Sound Forge to confirm the properties. They next time I tried using a looped section and I got the error message too. I believe you have found a bug in Vegas Pro 8.0. I would report this to Sony.

I saved the file in Sound Forge and got the 8K, 4-bit, mono file I expected.
