    It works!!

I imported raw AVC clips from my Sony HDR SR-11 camcorder into DVDA 5.0 and created a Blu Ray disk which gave me an absolute pristine picture using a PS3. Note that all products are Sony, except for my HiDef TV which is a Vizio LCD.

I wonder if the process would be as simple using video clips from Premiere Pro or other editing program. That will be my next experiment. But so far so good!!!

Wonderful to hear that Martin…”absolutely pristine picture
on the first go with version 5.
Happy experimenting. Lets know how your results turn out using other
    sources.

I’d be interested to know what your workflow is like when you drag the .mts files into vegas, edit them then export. Also if anyone wants to describe their Vegas->DVDA5 workflow from an EX1 I’d love to hear it.

I burned my 5 minute HD (hvx-200 Raylight to sony YUV codec)short to a regular DVD and it plays on my PS3. Menu won’t work but you can have it auto play. The PS3 sees it as a stream. Not sure if it works on a set top Blu-Ray, I will go to bestbuy and test.. Anybody know what the fastest and best Blu-Ray burner to get?

Personally the best blu-ray burner i would highly recommend is the
Pioneer BDR-202 burner which carries 4x burning speed.
As for disc burning speed…high speed burning is what i never
recommend. Burning at high speeds runs the risk of disc
    errors…the slower…the better.

I see the pioneer at newegg for $400, so I’ll probably pick one up in August if they aren’t planning a price drop in September or anything. As the only Vegas guy in the office the boss has placed it on me to be the first to start burning blurays, since everyone else is on FCP and hasn’t heard any official announcement from Apple. I agree that at $18 a pop for inkjet printable tdk’s, I’ll just get a sandwich while it burns at 4X. We can risk getting some coasters at 16x once they’re 80 cents a piece. Now we just need to hope the printer doesn’t hiccup on the label 🙂
