Editing AVCHD files in Vegas Pro 8
I’ve just returned from a trip to Alaska and Canada and have 30 hours of footage to edit. I have a Sony SR-12 and I have streaming working from my PC to the PS3 using TwonkyMedia and can play individual SR12 AVCHD clips but I haven’t found a way to make the PS3 play all clips continuously. I’m now combining all clips from a single day into one file so I can watch everything I’ve filmed on the TV before starting editing everything I’ve filmed.
I’ve recently bought Vegas Pro 8 and am having problems playing the combined rendered files through the PS3. I’m using the “HD 1080 – 50i (1920 x 1080, 25.000 fps)” setting in Project Properties and rendering to the Main Concept MPEG-2 setting with the template: “Blu-ray 1920 x 1080-50i, 25 Mbps, MPEG-2 video stream”. When I try to play these files through the PS3 I get either “The data type is not supported (800288C0)” or “The data is corrupted” so haven’t been able to play anything rendered with Vegas through the PS3. All of these files play perfectly in PowerDVD on the PC.
Using Ulead Video Studio 11.5+ I can create files that play properly on the PS3. I’m using the “Blu-ray PAL HDMV-1920” setting when rendering and that’s working well, as does the “AVCHD H.264 (1920 x 1080 25.00 fps)” setting.
I would appreciate any suggestions for settings to try in Vegas to be able to play my files through the PS3.
