Hi, I’m new to the forum, but coming from others. I’ve recently upgraded to Sony Vegas Pro Version 8 from a 6 Version, but I am encountering problems with adding audio effects i.e. ‘Applying Non-real Time Effects’ to selected audio tracks.
The message that comes up goes like so: “This plug-in could not be run. one or more components required for this plug in may be missing. If a hardware key (dongle) is required to operate this plug-in, ensure that it is properly installed. The COM object failed to initialise.”
Now it is obvious that I am missing something, but I am not sure as to what exactly, and I was wondering if anyone had encountered this same message, or knows how to help, as I really would like to be able to use the effects in the near future. I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter:)

    Hi Tara,
I’m not sure what you mean “applying non real time effects. Are you usine the audio plug-ins that come with Vegas? Are you using the trak effects chain or the event effect chain? Are you selecting the audio track and using edit, audio and effecting the wave that way? Danny Hays

Yes I am using the audio plug-ins that come with Vegas, when I right click on an audio event I then click “Apply Non-Real Time Event fX” and there is a list of Vegas audio plug ins, but when i try to add any one of them, that same message comes up that I mentioned before, sorry If I’m not being clear, it’s the only way I can think to explain the problem.

Why not try by simply dragging the audio plug-in from the plug-in
    manager to the audio track?

No luck I’m afraid, I’ve tried adding it to the track that way and by right clicking, by every way I know of, the same message keeps coming up:(

Have you tried clicking on the plug-in icon on the audio event or on the track effect icon? Little green icon and adding effect that way?

I just tried that and it comes up with the same thing. The only thing I can think of doing is re-installing the plug-ins but I don’t know how to do that without re-installing Vegas entirely, and I want to avoid that if possible, but I will do it if necessary.

Re-installing is no issue…you just go to the sony directory eg….
    C:..Program Files..Sony Setup..Vegas Pro 8.0 and press ‘vegas80_enu’
and follow the instructions to carry out maintenance.
    lets know if this helps.

It worked! My audio effects are back, thank you very much I am so grateful to you!
One little kink though- I couldn’t find that file in my Sony Vegas 8 File, but I found it in my Sony Vegas 6 file, and with some doubt went to install it- so now it is working witha previous version of the file. I don’t really care I thought I’d just tell you what happened in full, I’m just glad it’s working again, thankyou very much!
