Hello… I am using Sony Vegas 7 with a sony HDV1080i camera… I have been using vegas fine for my projects up untill now… I lent my gear to a friend, he changed the recording settings from HDV to DV… I didn’t realise this of course untill i have gone to capture my most recent project only to find that i recorded in the DV format… Now Sony vegas doesn’t seem to recognise the device when its set to DV, if i put an old tape in that was recorded in HDV it captures fine… Iv looked in the manual and tried to change the output settings on my camera but it doesn’t seem to help.. Any ideas on how i can capture this DV fottage? Thanks

You need to use the “EXTERNAL” capture app (which captures DV) instead of the “INTERNAL” capture app (which captures HDV).

You may need to go to Options – Preferences if it no longer asks when you pick File – Capture.
