I am able to create a layered timeline from two camera sources by going through the footage and switching to camera 1 – camera 2 etc..

Now I am left with this one track with the selected scenes from the 2 sources. During the editing I cut certain parts and then drag the remainder of the track to the left to fill the gap. That is where things break down. It drags only either camera 1 or camera 2. So after two hours of editing I looked back on the track timeline and saw all these gaps because of the way it groups the video.

Is there a way to just tell vegas to treat the track as one long grouped video after the source selection??? so when you make a cut and drag the video it doesn’t create all these gaps.

One option would be to use ripple editing (or Post Ripple Editing) – look them up in the help file.

Another option would be to right-click the first image you want moved, choose “Select Events to End” and then drag left. That should move everything on that track right of the right-clicked event.
