Maybe a visual aid will help in getting my problem solved. Here’s a screen cap of my desktop while in the Capture module (Preview window is on second monitor).

As you can see, there is NO Advanced Capture tab. If you look at the center you can see that Vegas has no problem recognizing my camera. On the right we see the in/out markers are grayed out as is the Go to…button. I have tried everything I can think of to sort this out. The cam is set to output HDV, I can capture manually with no problem. Please, someone give me a clue as to what’s going on here and why. Could another Vegas 8 MSP user show me a screen cap with the mysterious Advanced Capture tab showing. Maybe then I can call up Sony and ask them WTF!

Are you kidding me? Why not? Why no mention of this in the manual of help file? I’ve been chasing my tail with this problem for over a week all because the manual says I should be able to do this. Does Pro allow it? If this is indeed how the software works it needs to be better spelled out in the accompanying literature. I mean, it’s hardly unforeseeable that someone coming from SD DV cameras would want to use this feature.

Does HDVSplit support batch capturing? Thanks, Doug. Your Vegas 8 book is on its way to my home. Can’t wait to read it.

no way, no how – though i’m informed you can if you go via sdi. a bit of an expensive method to batch capture.

i’ve simply told my edl clients to log whole tapes which i’ll then capture whole and cut appropriately.

    real pia…..
