  Error Occurs open media file…

  Hello,

  Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago I opened Vegas (expecting my current project to start up as usual) and was hit with a “An error occured opening the media file” message.
  Selecting a replacement file (which in fact is the same file) for each video clip results with the same error and I am left with a lot of “(Media Offline)” boxes.

  Nothing had changed from working – not working state!

  It seems it can see all my editing (cross-fades, fx etc) but can no longer open any of the video files.

  I can play the video files normally using WMP etc. Just Vegas doesnt want to open them. They are standard .mpg files.

  Am I missing something obvious? Help would be GREATFULLY appreciated!
  I am in the middle of a project that has already taken me a
  couple of weeks!

  I always have a copy of the footage on an external disk. If you also have such a back-up, you could try to use these as replacement files.
