Newbie – Sony Vegas Pro 8 & Flash Import
I am a videographer (mostly weddings) and up to this point have done all my necessary editing using Sony Vegas 4.0 (relying on it for scrolling titles, etc.) and eventually DVD Architect to burn to DVD. I just bought the upgrade to Vegas Pro 8.0 but haven’t done the install yet due to open projects I have in place.
My question: I want to be able to incorporate animation, graphics, etc. into my videos. A friend told me about the Swish products and in looking at the catalog am thinking Swish Max2 will be my best bet but I really don’t know what I’m getting into. I’ve heard Vegas has a sophisticated titling program built-in but I don’t think it would do as much as I want or need.
I want to be able to combine animation such as rotating objects and similar ideas such as logos into my video projects within Vegas. Is Swish Max2 an appropriate program to design these things and can the objects be added/overlayed into Vegas without any loss of resolution or fluid motion? I’ve been reading that flash imports are limited to text only for Vegas? What would be the best product/add-on to accomplish what I need? Once purchased, is the process as simple as creating what I want in the other program, exporting to .swf, and importing to Vegas Pro 8? Can a ‘small’ object be superimposed over my video without interfering with the rest of what is on the screen (i.e. transparency, etc.)?
Any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thanks! Jamie
