  • Urgent Please – Subtitles in Sony Vegas on DVD

I am doing this amateur film for a couple competitions. What I want is the DVD to have a video menu which I can do in DVD Architect, and I want the one video to be on there. However, I want an option for a closed caption like subtitles of all of the lines from the movie. However, I can’t figure out how to do that anywhere. I’m imagining like an option in the menu you can click on which either shows the movie without the sub-titles or with the optional subtitles at the bottom and it could be activated by the DVD remote during the video like a real movie. Does anyone know how to do this or if it can be done in this program or any way to have optional subtitles? Please, please, please help.

I’ve done a few subtitled videos and it’s the DVD remote option as to whether you want to see them or not.
I put an advisory on the main screen that the video is subtitled and to use that feature on the DVD remote if you wish to see them.

How do you do that though?

If you mean how do you do subtitles, I’m being honest when I say that I can’t answer that question.
Since I only do this once or twice a year, I usually forget the sequence of steps involved so I end up reading the online help in DVD Architect.
It’s well laid out and tells you everything you need to know to be able to do subtitles.

    In DVD Architect:
    Help – Contents and Index.
    Enter Subtitles under Index.
    Read & learn.

There is no index help element named Subtitles. It doesn’t mention it at all. This is Sony DVD Architect Studio 4.5. Is it not in this version?

Based on the “features” listed on Sony’s site, apparently subtitles are NOT included in the “Movie Studio” versions.
