  Faster processing?-

  My ASUS mother board supports Intel’s Core 2 Quadro Kentsfield. I’m currently on a intel core duo at 2.66.

  Would the Kentsfield processor giveme much of a boost?

  Rendering AVI’s, mpeg’s and AC3’s are things I’d like to have go faster.

  In general, what components give Vegas the most speed boost?

  Check out the various results in the NEW Rendertest-HDV.veg thread on the Sony Vegas forum and decide if it’s worth it to you.
  I got a quad core this spring and I love it!!
  A 70 min. DV to MPEG-2 render (very few FX) takes a mere 27 min.
  A project that was very heavy on the chroma key and other FX took 3 hr. on a P4 3.4 GHz machine. The quad core did it in 30 min.

  I left the room after one minute 30 seconds and the rendertest was not yet done.

  I ran this test on two machines. One was an older P4 2.8GHz machine which finished the test in 16 minutes 18 seconds.

  The second machine is a newer Q6700 Core2 Quad 2.66GHz which finished that same render in 2 minutes 2 seconds.
