When Media is introduced it has it’s length on the top (say 5 seconds). Now, when it is being changed to 10 – Why the length is not being 2x on the time line?

You’re changing the “media” length – not the event length on the timeline. The two do not directly affect each other.

So what is the meaning of media length? (IE if I change it in the Preference->Edit to be, say, 10 it does occupy 10 seconds in the time line).

If you change it in the preferences, that will be the default length when added to the timeline for generated media and photos.

    Edward,
I know that but my question was: If I change it in the preferences, the change is reflected in the time line, but when I change it in the media itself, it has not effect – at all – on the length – Why is that?

If you change it in the preferences, when you add NEW generated media they will be the new length. Existing ones will not change.

When you change the length in the media event, it will be changed to that new length but the event size on the timeline will NOT change. You must physically change it on the timeline to match the new “length”.
