  • Tutorials about Network Rendering?

Ok, I have two main machines that I do most of my video work on. One is the main renderer, and the other is mainly for artwork and such. Both are dual core, and both have 2 gigs of ram. Question is, how do I get the two to work together on a network render? They both see each other. I make sure that each computer has the network render program open. I check the network option when I render the file out. Am I not mapping the drives right? I chose the faster of the two to be the stitcher, but still no dice. The last attempt I tried showed no error, but only the stitcher did anything. So, anyone willing to walk me through step by step how to make it work or have a good site for me to look at? The help file leaves something to be desired.

    Thanks,

    Neal Barlow

There’s an article in one of my newsletters that tells how one person did this. There was also a post recently on the main Sony forum that dealt with this topic.

Here’s a link to such a topic at the Sony Forum:

Sony might do well to actually promote/describe/tutorialize this feature a little better and make it possible for people to actually use it. Most of what I’ve seen in terms of “here’s how it works” is merely a re-hash of the online help already provided by Sony. Probably going dual/quad-core is a better boost than distributed rendering.

I couldn’t find anything specifically helpful in Edward’s archive.

Everyone who’s actually made it work, please raise your hand. Ah-ha. I see!
