  Vegas for Final mixes

  Hi, a few questions:

  1. Most DAW’S convert sample rates and bit depth to match project settings, vegas doesnt, why?

  2. Any high end film mixes done in vegas, not talking about indies?

  3. Why should i do my final mix and vegas and not export to nuendo?

  4. What advantages would i have doing this in nuendo instead of vegas (no midi needed)

  Because Vegas works with the SOURCE recording, which one would never want to be converted in real-time. Not only does it bog down the system, but it also may not be accurate. If I recorded it at 48K/24bit, that’s what I want to hear, regardless of whether I’ve failed to change the project settings or not.

  Because you already know Vegas? If you know Nuendo, why not use Nuendo?

  Familiarity with Nuendo? Speed (if you are more comfortable with Nuendo)? Nuendo’s colors are easier on the eyes, while Vegas has better media management? Nuendo has better Easter Eggs in the app?

  thanks spot, as to #1, i meant say you have a project set at 24bit, 48khz now you import an audio file from CD, others will give you an option to convert to the project rate or keep the original rate, say you pick original rate, this as you know will be pitched up. why not vegas?

  Vegas gives you the same option, except it’s invisible.
  Import a CD to a 96k/24bit project, it plays at 44.1/16 bit until you output. Then you have a choice.
  I for one, would *never* want my audio to be resampling in real time. And no, Vegas won’t shift it up (or down) unless you want it to. Try it.
