  • Simple question about Pan/Crop

I’m working on an NTSC Widescreen project, so my standard (square pixel) resolution is 873×480. I have a clip that’s 950×550. Is there a simple and easy way to set the Pan/Crop to where it just shows the pixels 1:1, or in other words just shows the middle 873×480 pixels? I’m not sure I’m explaining it well. I just want it to be zoomed to where it shows only 873×480 pixels from the center of the clip. If you know photoshop, it would be kinda like doing the Canvas Size option and turning the canvas size down from 950×550 to 873×550. Is there an easy and quick way to do this in Vegas 8 Pro?

Try the “Logo Resize” command in Excalibur. That might do what you’re wanting.

Thanks for trying but I don’t have Excalibur. I’d like to get it, but just don’t have the money right now. Any other ideas anyone?

Sure wish they’d update these forums so active topics could move back to the top. This one’s probably lost since its moved down this far.

See if this works for you.
Drop the 950 x 550 clip on the timeline.
Open the Pan/Crop window, right-click and select “Match Output Aspect”.
Now go to the Width box in the upper left corner of this same window and enter 873 as the new value. You should see the Height value change to 480 at the same time.
